Altoona Little League

After a few of our weekend tournaments got rained out, we had a ton of leftover food in the concession stand, so today all of this, about 200 lbs of food, went to Caring Hands food pantry in Altoona. They're a great organization with a lot of volunteers working to help out our community, so if you have the means to help out or extra cans in your cabinet keep them in mind!

Rumor is there are big things coming to the world of baseball in Altoona... We still have room for board members for the 2022 season. Parents, grandparents, or those who just love baseball, all are welcome. Even if you don't know anything about baseball but just want to help provide a fun, positive activity for the kids in our community, we'd love to have you join too.

We will have a board meeting today at 4:00 at the fields for anyone who is interested in joining for the 2022 season. It will be fairly informal and will be a chance to get a feel for what it's like being a board member and to ask any questions you may have before joining. We have many roles within our organization so we can find something that will fit your availability.

One more call for help... The Altoona Little League board will be at Sam Wise tomorrow from 10:30-12:30ish working on our fall to-do list. Any help we can get is always greatly appreciated.

Here's some info on Little League boundaries and how it'll work for the new SEP Little League. This is all new for us so if you have questions don't hesitate to ask!

One major change for us at Altoona is that we'll play more games (14-16 games instead of only 10), but we will have some "away" games depending on the age group. It'll be a fun opportunity for the kids to get to go play on different fields and make some new friends!

The homecoming parade is next week! Here are details on where we'll be meeting and what we're doing. We would love to have as many of our players as we can walk in the parade with us!

Hawk Heaven Tavern will be donating the proceeds of their charity raffle at their game watch party today (and the next two games also) to us! If you want to watch the game today, this is the place to be!

The rumor mill has been flying so it’s time to make it official. Altoona Recreational Baseball League is now Altoona Little League. That’s right, LITTLE LEAGUE! We made this decision primarily because Little League affiliation will help us provide a better baseball experience for the kids through online resources, coaching clinics, and grant and sponsorship opportunities that weren't available to us before. But wait, there’s more! We are joining Pleasant Hill, Runnels, and ...Mitchellville to create the new Southeast Polk Little League. We will continue to operate as an independent organization but creating the SEP league will allow us to work together towards the coveted Little League World Series. More information on what to expect for the 2022 season will be available soon, in the meantime checkout the new site. www.seplittleleague.org

For our first joint event as Southeast Polk Little League we're going to be participating in the SEP Homecoming Parade in two weeks! We'll be looking for volunteers to walk in the parade with us wearing their Altoona Baseball jerseys and hats, along with Pleasant Hill, Runnells and Mitchellville ballplayers. The parade is Sept 23rd, we'll be meeting somewhere TBD at 5 pm, stay tuned for more info.
