This has very little to do with exercising, I promise! It has to do with muscle mechanics and how if one muscle is being activated the muscle that does the opposite action has to deactivate to allow it. It's pretty gentle in fact and you only go as far as your comfort level allows. It's super helpful to me when I've had a long day at the massage table, or (as I've recently discovered) I've spent a lot of time tending my flowers/garden.
