Trailside Rentals 22.03.2022

Trailside Rentals will again this year be focusing on providing bicycles only to the people who are staying at our two guest facilities. The bike shop will be open for repairs and sales of classic bicycles. Now is a good time to plan your summer stays in Madrid. It is also a good time to get your bikes tuned up for the riding season. The High Trestle Trail showed about a 30% increase in usage in Madrid last year. Check out our website, www.trailsiderentals-Madrid.com, for the latest details on our guest facilities and bike shop.

Trailside Rentals sustained some damage from the derecho. A couple of broken windows, a solar panel, siding damage, smashed handrail and we still have very large limbs on the roof of the guest house. All of the trees will need to come down too. Yesterday I took a break from the cleanup and rode five hours on the High Trestle Trail. Good news is that it is completely open including the Heart of Iowa Trail from Slater to Huxley. There still are crews out clearing branches so be mindful and courteous. Low hanging branches are in several places along with twigs on the trail. Cornfields are flattened between Madrid and Huxley. Slater has a new skyline at the grain elevator.

I just finished a restoration of a mid 1970’s Flandria for Aaron McCarty. We kept the time worn paint and decals, but restored everything else. This was originally owned by his father in-law, Steve Barker, who was a good friend and fellow 1969 Madrid High classmate. I am glad it is staying in the family.
