May 2nd through May 8th is National Correctional Officer week. O'Brien County is proud to have the best of the best. Working 24/7 they work with people in some of the most unfortunate and dire circumstances. They are responsible for keeping our jail running smoothly, efficiently, and professionally. We cannot thank them enough for the job they do. HELP WANTED Full-Time 911 Communications Operator for O’Brien County Position involves working variable shifts including nights, weekends & holidays as dispatcher on a full time basis with minimal jail duties. Applicants subject to fingerprinting, background check and MMPI. O'Brien County Sheriff's Office welcomes deputy sheriff Lee Vellema. Lee took his oath of office this morning sworn in by Nancy McDowell, Chair of the O'Brien County Board of Supervisors. Sheriff Bruce Devereaux presented Lee with his certificate of oath of office.
This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications week. The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize our Telecommunication Operators. They often receive phone calls from the public in the most extreme situations and relay that information in a calm and precise manner to EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement. They are the heroes behind the scenes. Thank you Communication Supervisor Marsha Southwick, Jennifer Langenfeld, Mikayla Campbell, Sherri Boogerd, Tami Heerde, Tara Roorda, Becky Tjossem, and Kevin Harskamp.
