Off to a great Day 1 of kickboxing! Kickboxing at NLXF is a little different than anywhere else, especially if you have previous boxing experience! Keep in mind, the first few days we slow things down so new members can learn form and the basics. Returners this is a great time to focus on your form. Here’s a couple things to keep in mind: Footwork is everything. We want a good athletic stance - think wide base about hip width apart, and squared up to the bag - not narr...ow or sideways. This allows us to transfer weight easier from foot to foot. Once you get footwork down, your upper body will follow! Keep your hands up. Home is ALWAYS with your hands in front of your face. So, after you throw a combo, RESET to home. You might partner with a returner and they’re going fast and you feel like you have to keep up. This is definitely not the case. Keeping your hands up will always ensure we are making good connection with the bag and not letting our arms flail around like one of those giant balloons in car dealership parking lots. If your bag is loose, stop and tighten it. That being said, also make sure you and your partner are never hitting the bag at the same time. FORM OVER ANYTHING! It’s easy once we get going and start getting tired to let form slip and just start throwing hands at the bag. Don’t let it happen! Speed and power will come over time. Also know it’s okay to take a couple seconds off the bag to catch your breath and gather yourself so you have good form. HAVE FUN!! If you’re new to the whole kickboxing thing, please don’t get frustrated or upset if a trainer is constantly coming up to you. We’re here to help and want you to, again, have the best form possible!

Week 1 is done and you have SO much to be proud of! This is not an easy program and it doesn’t get easier, but you all get better every day! These next 7 weeks will fly by so keep those goals in sight! Each week, we give two people who have shown up and worked hard the Weekly Warrior title! This week went out to a veteran and a new member! Sara Fitzgerald has joined back with us and we couldn’t be happier! Sara has shown up this week and really challenged herself! She’s alw...ays making us trainers laugh and she will be the first person to cheer you on! Andrew Zachow is new with us and we can tell he’s going to do big things in our program! He has taken everything we threw at him with grace and his willingness to learn and push himself is something special! Congrats Sara and Andrew! Approaching Week 2, who’s going to push themselves and earn that title?!

NLXF YOUTH SUMMER PROGRAM! GETTING KIDS ACTIVE AND HELPING THEM ADVANCE KEY SKILLS FOR SPORTS OR JUST STARTING TO DEVELOP A LOVE FOR WORKING OUT! JUNE 21st- JULY 23rd ... 10:45 AM to 11:30 AM 3 x a week- MWF Age: recommend for 10-16 (we have done younger with approval) What is NLXF YOUTH -A mixture of various activities and workouts that will be fun and challenging. From resistance training, flexibility, kickboxing, cardio and games, we will make an atmosphere that they’ll enjoy and feel comfortable in their own skin. -This 5 week course will provide workouts that help develop skills for athletes and kids just starting on their fitness journey. Improving speed, agility, coordination and strength for all levels. (Going into 3rd grade to High School) -FUN and knowledgeable trainers that have high energy and experience in creating an atmosphere that gets kids excited to be active. -$99 for the 5 weeks which includes access to Fit gym and Fit Courts! $10 card fee included in registration. -Each week we will choose a weekly warrior that gets recognized for their efforts and leadership! -Fun awards given at the end of the session to keep kids motivated to work hard and feel accomplished. -Gloves needed but not provided. Great energy throughout Week 2! Let’s keep that rolling into Week 3! These two Weekly Warriors showed up and dominated the workouts and are constantly challenging themselves! Doug Miller has been with us for about a year and has made great strides! Typically a 5am regular, he brings energy, always lifting heavy and a beast on the bags! Alexis Williams started last session and has made tremendous improvements all around! Day 40 of 40. It's been quite a session to remember. From getting back to our normal, to the Weekly Challenges, to the amazing atmosphere you all created, and the awesome results that have been coming in all week, this group of Session 43 is the true testament of how and why we have the hardest working group in the Cedar Valley. We've had several people who didn’t just lose weight, they’ve learned what it takes to make this a lifestyle, not just another 8-week session. ... Pairing nutrition with our workouts, we have so many people who are in a healthier spot now than they were 8 weeks ago. We've had a blast working and getting to know all of you! Are you ready for your first Gauntlet of the session? Returners are probably excited with anticipation, new members might be a little nervous. Either way, here are a few great tips to remember and don’t forget that beach attire! This workout is what defines NLXF. It’s an intense, fast-paced workout that will have you ending your week on a high note. If you haven’t done a Gauntlet before, don’t try Googling it, you won’t find anything on it. You can try to ask others about... it, but by explaining the Gauntlet to someone doesn’t do it justice. Your best bet is to show up with a kick-ass attitude, and be prepared to dominate your workout, because you can, and you WILL. Tomorrow, you experience what NLXF is all about. Don’t forget your best BEACH attire! GLOVES ON LETS GAUNTLET!

Rod Berry joined us this session at our 9:15 class! He earned himself a Coach’s Corner award and three free meals to Fit Foods! Alongside his workout partner, Shannon Myers, these two were unstoppable! Rod took advantage of food journaling and making class a priority and improved SO much of the course of 8 weeks! How/when did you become involved in NLXF? Session 43 was my first experience with NLXF. I switched shifts at work and was looking for something to occupy my tim...e during the day before work. My cousin Shannon Meyers suggested that we sign up for the upcoming session since it started around the same time I had to switch shifts. Without hesitation i said yes! The last time I did any workout class was back in 2012. I love pushing myself physically to see what I can achieve. Since life happens and I basically fell off the wagon, I knew this was the right choice. I honestly didn’t set any goals for this session. I just wanted to see what I could achieve overall by just putting in the work and eating right. I couldn’t believe what the before and after pics showed me. From the start to the finish of the session I never looked in the mirror to see what kind of results I was getting. So the level of excitement was pretty high. This session I have a set a goal and I plan on achieving it and then some. Tell us about your first class. I started off right away with the trial classes thinking that those would be less intense and basically be a warm up to the actual session. The first trial class was basically a black Monday. It was no walk in the park because in reality, I could barely walk . What is your favorite class to take? It’s hard to narrow down what my favorite class is, I love doing black Monday’s, gauntlets and anything circuit related. What makes NLXF stand out? Honestly, between the trainers and the camaraderie of everyone else you’re around. You can’t beat that. The overall positive atmosphere in the room just makes my day better. Someone is always cheering you on. It doesn’t matter who you are working out next to, everyone is pushing themselves and giving their best. That’s what it’s all about. We all have one goal, be better today than we were yesterday. If someone is thinking about joining the program, what is some advice you have? I will tell them that without a doubt you will come into this session nervous and scared but you are going to leave the session a whole new person. I rate the overall hardworking,fun, and energetic trainers a 10/10. Take the leap and jump right in. You won’t regret it. See you soon Trial Class TOMORROW! Our Week 7 Weekly Warriors! These two are such an asset to our program in their own ways! One thing they have in common is that they both love to put in hard work and have fun while doing it! Jeffrey Batterson is a member of our 6am crew and we love the determination he brings to the table! Since his Day 1, he has been so coachable and is always wanting to improve! His smile lights up the room and his great attitude are what makes him stand out! Fonda Manahl has been a memb...er for quite some time now and her hard work does not go unnoticed! We know 5:30pm class can get late, as people are ending their day, but Fonda is always a great face to see! She may be a little on the quiet side but the way she works in those 60 minutes is FIERCE!
