There is a burn ban in effect until further notice. We will update this post when the ban is lifted.
**Many to all county roads in Scott County are currently impassable.** It is strongly recommended at this time to stay off county roads if you can. This also includes Highway 61 northbound near Eldridge. At this time we are responding to a number of accidents at that location.
Mild Temperatures Gusty Winds Dry Grounds and Grasses Low Relative Humidity... All a recipe for high fire danger across the area this weekend! Please use caution if you're planning any kind of outdoor burning! #iawx #ilwx #mowx
Scott County is at the point in the year where more and more people will start doing large scale burns throughout rural parts of the state. With that in mind, t...he Scott County Fire Departments has some reminders for rural county residents to keep in mind. When doing a large scale burn, the Fire Departments recommends notifying the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center first. ( SECC ) Residents choosing to burn brush piles, especially larger piles of debris, or any tall grasses that have to be burnt for management purposes, are requested to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center. Tell the dispatcher who you are, what is being burned, where the burn will take place, and when the burn will happen. By notifying the dispatch center before a controlled burn happens, it will save them from having to page out fire personnel and law enforcement. When there is no record of any controlled burns, emergency resources have to respond as if it were an actual emergency. Please consider the responders safety and the time taken away from their families and work. It only takes a few minutes to call and let the dispatch center know what is happening and that notice may keep our responders from risking their lives when it is not an emergency. Thank you From all of the Quad cities area Fire Departments
Another warm, windy day with PM elevated fire danger for Wednesday. There will also be shower/storm chances timed mainly for the AM and then again in the evening/night. #iawx #ilwx #mowx
