Since it is the end of the school year, it is a time of reflection. I personally believe reflection is the most important activity a person can doreflect on the year, reflect on the wins, on the losses, on the regrets As I reflect today, I think about Jonthe big brother, the protector, the confidante and I realize just how much we and the world have all changed. Since his death, family has moved back to town, family has left town, a scholarship was started, those who first... received the scholarship in 2003 have since graduated college, got married, and pursued their passion in the performing arts, whether it be music, theatre, dance. Some are pursuing them professionally and winning awards, some are pursuing it locally (two of the recipients are in Rue Royale opening tomorrow night in Sioux City), some are educators--so many more paths have been pursued and I am thankful. I am thankful that we have been able to keep the scholarship going every year. I am thankful that Jon’s memory will live on in our community. I am thankful that he will be remembered.
