It's that time of year already to think about protecting your trees, shrubs, garden and ornamental plantings from the dreaded Japanese Beetles. Systemic insecticides for your ornamentals should be applied now if that's the preferred control. Safe and effective topical dusts and sprays are available for your food crops and ornamentals too. And contrary to what you may have heard, bait attractant stations are an effective control. There would be slightly more beetles in the area where the bait bags are deployed but they will go in the bags and not on your plants. Be prepared, they WILL come and they WILL be hungry!
