Congratulations to Tracy Fenton for earning the Akin Employee of the Quarter for the Creston location! Tracy is always flexible to accommodate our needs and strives to deliver customer service.

2020 has been a dark time for many families and neighbors. We would like to start Operation: Be the Light. We have been fortunate to have continued to work through the pandemic, and we’d like to give back to those that haven’t been so lucky. Christmas can be a very stressful time for families and our neighbors who aren’t able to purchase gifts for their children or just are in need of some extra help themselves, so we would like to take some of the burden away. We are asking ...the community to help us with this project by donating new toys and gifts at each of our four store locations Corning, Clarinda, Atlantic, and Creston. Due to Covid, these items must be new in originally packaging. The community can nominate a family or neighbor that is in need and everything will stay 100% anonymous. We are asking for information such as girl or boy, age, interests, clothing and shoe size. We will wrap all donated toys and gifts, and anonymously take these gifts to the family or neighbor in need prior to Christmas. Akin Building Centers will also be contributing to the toy and gift drive and helping in other ways needed per each family. We would like to deliver the gifts to the families and neighbors by December 23rd, please drop off your gift by December 21st to allow us time to organize and wrap them. Just an update for the Creston location. We are currently collecting gifts for two families in our area. Family #1: Gifts needed are for a six year old boy. He likes dinosaurs, monster trucks, puzzles and wears a size 8 clothing. He has a one year old brother that likes things that make noise, Mickey Mouse, cars and wears 12 month old clothing. Family #2: Gifts needed are for a nine year old boy. He likes board games, cars, Yugioh game and wears size 14/16 clothes. He has a f...ive year old sister. She likes Barbie's, baby dolls, bath colors, coloring books and wears size 10/12 clothes. She has a size 1 shoe size. She has a four year old brother. He likes cars and fire trucks. He wears size 5T clothing and 13 shoe size. Please bring unwrapped gift to us by December 21st so we can wrap and deliver by December 23rd.
