On this day 8 years ago, this world lost a hero. Many lost a great friend, my wife lost her husband and my daughter her father. A mother and father lost their... son and siblings lost a brother. Life’s were shattered and turned upside down in an instant. This world by all accounts lost a little bit of greatness that day. When a single shot cut down a life short of what if’s and possibilities. I never knew James but our lives are forever connected in a spiritual and intimate way. As fate or more-so, divine intervention would have it, we share so much in this earthly life. How fast 8 years goes by, yet how so much pain is still conjured up still by the ones who love and know him. The world keeps spinning though memories will never dwindle. I know he looks down and smiles in pride. Pride in knowing and seeing his beautiful daughter and wife, how they continue on and live a life he fought so hard to protect and preserve. Just as we celebrated Jesus’ resurrection and his defeat of death on Sunday, today we celebrate the life James Justice lived while he was with us on earth. We hold on to the memories, joy and laughter we shared with him and we strive to live a life worth living that he fought and ultimately paid with his life to defend and protect. Please take a minute today to remember James and all his brothers and sisters who have paid the ultimate price for our way of life. Take a shot (Jack was his choice), drink a beer (or if you’re like me a soda) in his or their memory and remember how he and they loved, laughed and lived. Though I never had the privilege to meet James I have grown to know who he was and what he stood for from the stories and memories of the ones who shared life with him. I know he would want us to laugh and smile today and to enjoy every moment we have with each other. To remember how very fragile life can be and to embrace it and live it to the fullest. Please keep Amanda, Caydence and all his friends and family in your thoughts as well today as they struggle with the memories they hold and relive.
