Moving on to the Senate!

Friends! Our Dry Needling -Keep Acupuncture Safe campaign has a huge milestone tomorrow, Friday 7/15/2016 at 8 am. We have our District Court Hearing before a J...udge that will decide if the Physical Therapy Board had legal authority to allow the invasive use of acupuncture needles by Physical Therapists. We have spent months researching, documenting and petitioning the authorities to keep acupuncture safe by requiring proper and extensive training similar to that possessed by Licensed Acupuncturists. The PT Board selfishly, unethically, unsafely and illegally voted to allow PTs to practice a dangerous style of acupuncture that is improperly named Dry Needling. Despite thousands of pages of testimony against this practice, they voted against our petition to stop this. We then began legal action. The District Court hearing is the culmination of this process. If you are interested or want to support our profession, you are welcome to witness. The hearing begins at 8 AM at the Polk County Courthouse. If you can't make it right at 8 AM, don't worry. Just be quiet and courteous as you enter the room. The Hearing is expected to last only a couple hours, and we will not be receiving a ruling today. The Judge has 30-60 days to issue his ruling (he can take longer than that, but is unlikely to do so). We will be in Room 305. We are nearing the end of this two year process to protect Iowans from unsafe and unethical use of acupuncture needles. This is the most expensive stage as we must pay our excellent law team. Our hearing in front of the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy went extremely well yesterday! We had a packed room, the most ever at a PT & OT Board meeting. Our members outnumbered and the Physical Therapists who want to continue using acupuncture needles without proper licensure. Our passionate and articulate reasons against dry needling left a strong impression on the Board members. We still need a lot of public support to make sure those Board members do the ...right thing and stop the dry needling by PTs. We now have until October 26, 2015 to get all of our supporters to contact the Iowa Board of POT. As Licensed Acupuncturists, we want to make sure people who are using Acupuncture needles are fully trained and licensed by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Our HSB 101 is going to the House Human Resources committee, tomorrow Thursday 3/5 at 3pm. We need EVERYONE to call and tell the following members to support the HSB101. Tell them you also want the chiros and doctors to stop practicing acupuncture without proper training. Thank you for all of your support so far. Please keep it up!

We need the public to tell the PT Licensing Board that they must restrict dry needling to only those professions properly trained to use acupuncture needles.
