On March 3, 1972, the skeletal remains of an unidentified male were found in a wooded area near the 1800 block of East Euclid in Des Moines, Iowa. Per an article by the Des Moines Register. A man’s shoe was found in the vicinity, police said, and the remains were clad in blue jeans. There was a wide belt with a large buckle on the jeans, prompting a detective to speculate that the person had been young. Anthropological investigation estimates the decedent to be a male of mixed race (European and Asian). Dental development indicates the decedent was at least 20 years of age. Approximate height was estimated to be between 5’6 and 5’8. Approximate shoe size between 9 and 10.

On the afternoon of 8/3/19, an Asian male was found on a bike path near the Botanical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Forensic testing was performed to positively identify the male as Linh Quoc Mai. Attempts to locate Linh’s family have been unsuccessful.
