McFarland Clinic physicians recently donated $5,000 to the LIVE United Food Drive in Story County. In addition, Teresa Wheelock of McFarland Clinic Business Services organized a collection of items with her colleagues from the department. The group donated 116 pounds of pantry and food items to help kick off the food drive campaign. The LIVE United Food Drive runs through May 6. McFarland Clinic physicians recently donated $1,000 to the Gilbert Education Foundation in support of the district's mission: Empowering Students, Every Student, Every Day. The Foundation has hosted an annual fundraiser, The Rock Hop, the past 20 years generating over $1,000,000 to invest in field trips, technology enhancement, science/STEM materials and mini-grants for classrooms. While the Rock Hop was not held this year, the Foundation did conduct a special appeal to continue to support educational initiatives in the district. McFarland Clinic physicians donated $1,000 to the Volunteer Center of Story County for the annual Blast Back to School supply event. The initiative provides school supplies for hundreds of children each year who would otherwise have limited access to what they need to be successful in school. In 2020, school supplies were distributed to over 1,000 kids mostly from Nevada and Ames school districts. This year Ballard, Gilbert and Colo-NESCO schools are joining the Blast Back to School distribution efforts as many families continue to face financial hardship.
