If you have bra...nches that were downed by the storm, consider donating them to the zoo. If you can bring fresh branches to the zoo, we will be accepting donations from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. Trees cannot have been treated with any insecticides or herbicides, and cannot be dead, dying, diseased, or infested with any pests. We cannot accept all species, so make sure to check the list below to make sure we can accept your donation before you come. Our animals’ health is our top priority, so we may need to turn away donations that don’t meet our criteria. Our community browse drop off location is at Gate 7, which is located at the intersection of 9th Street and Homer. Call the phone number on the gate, and a Zoo staff member will come meet you to screen your donation and show you where it can be dropped off. Please DO NOT drop off any branches outside the gate or before talking to one of our staff. A short list of species we can accept include (contact us for a more comprehensive list): Apple Aspen Birch Catalpa Cottonwood Dogwood Elm Hackberry Honeylocust Linden Mulberry Pear Redbud Sycamore Willow A short list of species we cannot accept include: Ash Black Locust Any evergreens Pitted fruit trees (cherry, plum, peach, etc.) Any maple (including silver maple) Oak Tree of Heaven
