Read what's at stake with the Qualified Immunity debate happening in the Iowa legislature this year: https://www.desmoinesregister.com//iowa-legisl/4838482001/ As Spirit Lake attorney Jack Bjornstad says: "You’ve seen people who’ve lost their lives, or their homes, or their businesses, or their entire reputation due to that federal standard being applied and the absurd results that follow," Bjornstad said. "That’s why the Iowa standard is so important."

Thank you to the Iowa trial lawyers who donated a total of over $6,000 this month to support IAJ's Byard & Marcia Braley Scholarship Fund. Our goal was to raise $3,000 to fund three new scholarships. When we hit our goal, IAJ member Niko Pothitakis donated an additional $3,000! We are so grateful for the generosity of our members all across the state. IAJ's Scholarship assists injured workers and their family members in the pursuit of further education. This scholarship was established by the IAJ Workers' Compensation Section, which administers the scholarship. You can find more information, donate, or find a scholarship application at this link: https://www.iowajustice.org/Scholarship
