Well looky here, We are in American Bee Journal again!
For your belly and a good cause.
We just got more Russians allocated to us!!! Get them while they last! Bees For Sale! www.russianbee.com We are taking orders for packages this spring. Carniolans will be here April 11th and 12th for pick up, and the Russian packages will be here April 24th and 25th. ... Our Carniolans are some of the gentlest bees you will ever encounter and are well suited to northern climates. Being a darker bee they will forage in cooler temps than the light colored breeds and will size down in the winter to conserve honey stores. The industry standard bee of the north! Our Russians are some of the hardiest bees you'll find on the market. Fight your mite loads with them! The Russian bees is well known for having hygienic behaviors of removing mite infected brood, they are meticulous about cleaning themselves and helping dislodge mites on their own bodies, and they actively try removing mites from the colony unlike most other breeds of bees. When your nectar flow hits, WATCH OUT, the queen ups her egg laying to take advantage of the flow, and when fall hits these girls will be the first breeds in your apiary to start sizing down to conserve the honey stores. Not only will they conserve their honey stores, but Russians are known for having a thicker fat layer on their bodies, and your winter cluster will live up to a full month longer under the same circumstances that would kill off other breeds. For those of you in our local area, we do offer hive kits that we sell in our little homestead farm store called "Honey Hollow Apiary & Gardens", and via our website for easy ordering when placing package and nuc orders. We also have a multitude of the tools, feeds, and accessories for beekeeping on hand. By no means do we have it all, but we do keep adding things as we grow! Some people ask why we have a different name on our store and honey products than Foley's Russian Bees. The truth of the answer is, by the 10,000 time John Q. Public said, "Russian honey? So does that taste different than honey from a regular bee?" my sanity demanded that we just have a nice non-bee breed name on it. We already called the farm Honey Hollow because it's in this small protected valley. So, bingo! - Honey Hollow it was.
