So, big news, I got a new job! Well..kinda. I'm still a FEMM Educator, but I have a new employer! This incredible opportunity was hard to pass up, as I am now working under an amazing trio of doctors who are devoted to women's health, along with other fertility awareness method instructors. This not only will help me grow in my knowledge enabling me to offer you more information, but each of my client's charts will now be seen by one of these doctors after every appointment. ...Reproductive Health Medicine and Gynecology is located in Atlanta, Georgia, however I will be their virtual instructor, seeing clients from my home here in Iowa along with any of my local clients in person. As my current clients know, nothing is really changing on their end, aside from a little extra paperwork due to them becoming patients of this new clinic. Insurance is still accepted and the same procedure codes are being used for each appointment, along with financial aid being offered for those that do not have insurance or have insurance that does not cover health education appointments (rare). I highly encourage you to look up Reproductive Health Medicine and Gynecology (link in bio) to meet the staff and all the services we offer! Treatment here goes above and beyond, including Endometriosis Excision Surgery and Fertility Enhancing Surgery. Here is the clinic's philosophy along with our overall approach: At RHM, we believe that authentic gynecological care centers primarily on the careful study of a woman's cyclical observations. What causes this daily variation is a delicate interplay of physiology, endocrinology (hormones) and your immune system to bring about ovulation. A disruption of this balance leads to abnormal ovulation and a wide variety of reproductive health issues. Therefore rather than simply treating symptoms, we work cooperatively with our patients to treat the root cause of the problem. We further believe that this is in accordance to the principles of the Hippocratic Oath, where all physicians are called to follow. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS.... See more

"...most women learn to chart within two to three cycles of tracking. The simple concept that CM signifies fertility during the menstrual cycle could easily be taught as a standard part of every sex ed curriculum. As far as I'm concerned, the blatant omission of specific and accurate education about the menstrual cycle, CM, and female fertility is a systematic tool of disempowerment." - Lisa Hendrickson-Jack @fertilityfriday How's that for a quote? This quote is from her b...ook "The 5th Vital Sign" and it's one of the many statements she makes through-out that make me want to yell "AMEN." There is nothing I want more than for Fertility Awareness to be taught in schools. Just think, if we were properly educated on cervical fluid, fertility, and how to chart it all, we would have been able to be informed participants in our healthcare from a very early age. Many of us that were put on HBC during puberty would have avoided this thanks to simply knowing what to expect from our changing hormones, and if there was something truly wrong, we would have been empowered to ask our doctors to dig deeper. Quick story....When I was 12, I began noticing a "discharge" coming out of me. It was pasty. It was cloudy. It was weird. I asked my mom about it which led her to ask the doctor that she worked under at the time what it could be. The doctor told my mom to make an appointment with a specialist in a nearby city. So off to this appointment we go. Upon arrival, I'm examined, catheterized, and laid on a metal table under an x-ray machine with the orders to "just pee". WHAT THE HECK WAS GOING ON. I remember laying on this table with like five doctors watching me from behind a glass window just waiting for me to pee. It was really uncomfortable, mentally and physically. Eventually I peed out the fluid that they had put in me via the catheter, and as I lay in my own pee on a cold metal table, the docs watch the video closely to see if everything worked properly within me. An hour later, after getting cleaned up and feeling like I now had a UTI, my doctor told me that everything looked just fine and they didn't know what the discharge was. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS... I get A TON of questions about taking your basal body temperature (BBT) so I thought I'd address some of them over the next few posts: 1) Why can't I just take my BBT every day and have the app or thermometer tell me if I'm fertile or not? BECAUSE THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS. I'm not yelling at you, I just really want you to know that that is simply not how our bodies work and there are companies out there that claim that that is how they work. Taking your BBT can only conf...irm ovulation, not tell you when your fertile window has opened. If you are ONLY charting your BBT and not charting your cervical fluid along with it, your chances of conceiving are incredibly high. Thermometers like the Daysy tell you if it thinks you're fertile or not based off of previous cycle patterns and your current BBT, but it doesn't take into account all of the factors in life that can effect your hormones and your BBT (i.e. a sudden change in life style due to a certain worldwide pandemic). Your BBT rises AFTER you ovulate and should stay high for the remainder of your cycle, thus helping you to confirm ovulation. Your BBT doesn't change when your fertile window opens (which happens a number of days before ovulating), therefore you're putting the chance of conceiving a human being in the hands of a thermometer and an app with an algorithm, not a brain.... Alright ladies...so why do you need someone like me teaching you how to chart, when you can just read a book, read my posts/stories, or look for blogs on the internet about it? Simple. There are so many nuances with our cycles that you need someone by your side educating you through them. A book is not custom fit to you. My insta posts are not custom fit to you. Blogs are not custom fit to you. After learning your health history, current medical information and concerns, and ...your goals, I become a custom fit for you. Your cycle is unique to you, and you're going to have unique situations, and having an educator like me just a text/appointment/review session away could mean the difference between a surprise baby or that next period arriving as expected. It could also mean having underlying health issues being found and treated now rather than five years down the road when they've turned into a much bigger problem. This post isn't here to scare you or stop you from reading books, posts, and articles about fertility awareness. In fact, I highly encourage that you do! This post is here to emphasize the benefit of having an educator at your side that is custom fit to your needs so that fertility awareness is successful for you. See more
