Everly Brothers Childhood Home 24.03.2022

Grand Marshals Don and Phil Everly receive a warm welcome during their homecoming parade in Shenandoah on July 5, 1986! This is one of the photos scanned and submitted to us by Joe Laughlin. Thanks, Joe! While we have ample documentation, there are still so many personal memories we don't have from this special day. If you'd like to contribute your story and/or media files for our archive so that we can represent this history as thoroughly as possible, please contact us! Photo by Joe Laughlin.

In this reel from Don and Phil's 1986 Shenandoah Homecoming, the opening clip features a local journalist cruising to "Bye Bye Love" in our Founder Bill Hillman's 1965 Ford Thunderbird convertible! We have hours of footage (some we've included in exhibits) and CBS has even more footage in their archives. But what we enjoy most is hearing from fans and community members who were in town that day. Please share a memory below if you joined us for this historic celebration on July 5, 1986!

On March 1, 1957, The Everly Brothers recorded "Bye Bye Love" and the rest was history! Thank you Colouring The Past for bringing to life this 1968 performance of their hit song!
