Interesting article regarding the value of farm land. Farm land valuation is outside of my area of expertise, however, I find the part regarding the correlation to home values interesting. I think that it is far more likely that the declining value farm land could be an indicator that home values could fall. We'll have to keep an eye on that I guess.

I get asked all the time, what's the difference between a tax assessment and an appraisal? An appraisal is a real time analysis of the current value of your home. This recent article indicates that the Assessor has found market evidence that indicates that the market value of homes has increased at a greater rate than indicated by the current models used to calculate assessed values.
