Accord Architecture

Accord Architecture is proud to have played a key role in Mason City’s River City Renaissance project downtown. Our involvement dates back to 2015 when we assisted the city in securing the Iowa EDC grant money through our design efforts. Accord provided plans and 3D drawings for the IA-EDC application showing how the ice arena and performing arts pavilion could be incorporated into areas of the Southbridge Mall. Accord’s parent company, Henkel Construction, assisted with the construction cost estimates of these early concepts. Most recently, public bids came in under budget for the performing arts pavilion designed by Accord. This is both an interior and exterior pavilion for a community that loves to celebrate music!

The Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare campus in Mason City, Iowa provides counseling and treatment to many North Iowa residents that are experiencing a difficult battle with addictions. This 25,000 square foot expansion of the existing main campus building includes a new inpatient care wing for women, wellness center, lab, and improved outpatient clinic facilities. Accord Architecture’s design redefined the entrance both aesthetically as well as the patient registration function. The deep overhangs and strong horizontal lines embrace Mason City’s Prairie School Architecture heritage. We are proud to say that this project won the American Institute of Architect’s People’s Choice Award in Iowa for 2018.

The focus of the new Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare facility is on the patient’s experience and on supplying the staff with proper spaces to achieve patient goals. The women’s inpatient residential facility comforts people who are facing tough challenges in their life through the use of group meeting rooms, large residential kitchens allowing for social interaction, a beautiful wellness center, and the privacy of inpatient bedrooms. Patients and visitors alike... experience amenities such as soft seating, fireplaces, and back-lit wall signage displaying reassuring messages. Large meeting rooms with high ceilings and clerestory windows offer patients the ability to receive treatment in a group setting. Outside the building, a large prairie grass area provides a place to walk in an environmentally responsible approach to landscape design. See more
